Everyone has that moment in where the 'verge' of their lives come to start a new one, and that's what Adam is going for in his latest single, and of course, Aloe Blacc's vocal was an amazing addition to this single. And not to let this moment pass any longer, let's start with Adam's "Verge"'s MV.
The opening song seems so 'path opening' and I get why he uses 'graduation' as a theme of his single.. I mean, cmon guys, we've already had way too much love songs. It's time to put some friendship and different theme in. It wasn't surprising that the MV would be a graduation-themed MV.
LBH, the single's cover looked like flying graduation hat thingy. He even posted a small clip in Insta about how he captured the moment for his single's cover. However, that doesn't mean I will judge him due to his 'direct' clues. I'll be honest if I say that I love artists giving clues for me to guess what the possible MV would be like. And even though this was directly indirect, I still love it.. cos first of all, it's Adam Young. Second, the song is hella amazing. Ok, skip the "how he guves out clues" part. My friend, Elvin, just told me that he loved Fifth Harmony's "Reflection" album, where as I find it an okay album, and I'll be real... I think he's right, I'm being a douchbag by expecting so much stuffs. It's like my standards on music just rose suddenly. But nonetheless, let's get back to the song. First, the song sounds like the combination of his "Shooting Star"'s opening, "Tokyo"'s bridge, and "The Midsummer Station" album style. I'm not saying that he took less effort, but it sounded "Wow" at first, but Hello... Imma Hootowl! So I know every song of yours, and you need to know that most Hootowls knew the music style behind the song. Not being a judgemental dude, but it's a good way to mix it up. (P.S. Love you Adam!!)
Second, one of the best thing about the song is that I didn't see the ending coming at all, and I go all "OMG! Nooooo... continueeeee!!" and now I'm playing it on repeat.
Third, I know most people will say it has the same "Good Time" feels, but no! It has similar styles but Adam put much effort into this one, I can really tell. He uses not only the obvious graduation to explain the song but also metaphorizes the butterfly in the MV as a symbol of "A new adventure awaits"
Lastly, I can tell this MV is an ad for the new HP laptop/tablet thing. Now you make me wanna buy it Adam.
So... what do you think about the MV?
