Learning Horoscope! Part VIII
Hello and welcome! Today, we're gonna learn about decans or decants. From the word "decan" which means 10, and from what we know, a sign takes up 30° of the whole cycle.
Decants
So here, we separate the 30° into tens; hence, resulting in 3 different groups of the same horoscope sign. This is also another method to explain why people of the same signs have different personalities. Now, let's start... *drums rolling*
Okay, this part is pretty simple, you divide one sign into 3, for example;
Aries' date ranges from 21 May till 20 April, now divide it into three categories, each one has at least 10 days. So,
21 May - 30 May is the first decant
1 April - 10 April is the second decant
11 April - 20 April is the third decant

Keep doing that until the last one, Pisces. And now, time for interpretation. As you can see, in each element there are 3 signs(like previously shared on Part II [CLICK HERE])

Fire : Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius
Earth : Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air : Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water : Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Now, in the first decant, the sign will have the most effect of the horoscope; hence, they're are most likely to act more like it. For example;

First decant of Leo will act more Leo-like, while the second decant will act slightly less like Leo but a bit like Sagittarius, and the last decant is the least to act like a Leo due to co-ruler plant from Aries.

As you can see, the first decants have the most accurate characteristics (because their ruling planet and their co-ruling planet are the same). Meanwhile, the second decant is slightly different from the usual Leo (because their co-ruling planet is the planet that rules the next sign of the same element after the sign Leo). And lastly, the last decant has least traits of Leo (because its co-ruling planet is the planet that rules the last sign of the similar element after the sign Leo). This is a reason why some people have different traits of the usual signs.
For an easier understanding, the first decants are mostly accurate based on the usual characteristics, while the second decant, you have a slight difference from the usual sign. Lastly, the last decant has the least characteristics from the usual signs.
This also relates to cusp (still trying to understand it), for example; the usual Aries would be temperamental, but the Aries-Taurus cusp are calmer than the usual due to Taurus co-ruling planet, and the third decant of Aries is least likely the usual Aries. This shows that decants and cusp might actually be similar, but, I still need to understand this hypothesis of mine a little bit more.
And here, I shall end thy post (so old). Ok, the reason I stop the teachings here is because I still couldn't use, read, or even draw the birth chart. It's pretty accurate, even more accurate than just learning these categorization. BUT, to get accurate results you will need to learn more than just the signs. You'll have to learn the calculations, lines and shapes formed which will be used in the birth chart, and of course, reading the birth chart is related to what I've shared so far. Anyways, thanks for the patience and time given to read and learn together. You can learn the birth chart on your own if you want via Internet. Thanks again, and here is a LINK for you to get your birth chart and you can also learn more from it.
Learning Horoscope! Part VII

Okay, in the last post, I finished the 12 signs, now I'm going in depth of each characteristics of each signs. Now some people have birth charts in where their Sun sign is around more or less 10° from two consecutive signs, for example; 15 April is categorized Aries, however, it is slightly close to the next sign, Taurus. In here, there is a slight change from the usual characteristics of the Aries, maybe less active and more reserved and patient. Now, this is what they call as cusps.
Cusp
It is an imaginary line that states a specific boundary in between two consecutive signs (in astrology). NOTE! The cusp I'm talking about is not the cusp you find in Maths. Of course, with cusps, the person has different personalities compared to the usual horoscope written in magazines. Now, I'll start the first cusp, and be reminded, this is going to be one long discussion, because some astrologist do not believe in cusps, and for further notice, the dates that categorizes the cusps are kind of "blurry", since cusps are more of an imaginary boundary, instead of a certain area, it may be around 1-2 days more or less (reason why there are different dates in different sites)

Aries/Taurus cusp

Well, I guess I'll advance it by an hour. Hehe... sorry again. Enjoy learning horoscope guys!!

Now, before I continue to the next 4 signs, I'm wanna say first why I decided to divide them into group of fours. Learning Horoscope! Part IV
Ok, now let's learn the most basic things in Western horoscope astrology. Memorizing and understanding the characteristics of each sign. I'm going in depth with cusps and decans on the next post, but first let's start with the signs.

Sorry, but I'll cut down the 12 horoscopes into 4 per posts, and after that, I'll get into depth about a more accurate characterization. Thanks again for reading, good luck learning horoscope!

Learning Horoscope! Part III
Now, the part in where everyone (who's interested in horoscope) have read for the first time they got themselves into horoscope. Learning the horoscopic signs individually, I know for some people who know quite well about horoscope might find this one less entertaining, 'cause this is the part why horoscope got famous, but still, we need to learn the basics before starting the rest. Now continuing the second part which talks mostly about categorizing the signs, its basic personalities, elements, modality, and such. Now, we're going to talk about the 12 Houses (No, not the condo, apartment, and other house types).
In astrology, there are 12 houses which is believed to understand how a person's action affect him/her in real life based on financial, love, luck, etc. Like the horoscope signs, each house takes up 30° of the circle chart (360° / 12 = 30°). Another thing is that the Houses and the Horoscopes are found in different circles in the birth chart (the horoscopes are drawn in the Zodiacal circle, this is learned in birth charts), which means different birth date may show different patterns of Houses and Zodiacal circle (to get a more accurate result, you'll probably need to know the time you were born). So, the 12 Houses are;
12 Houses

House I represents the person's personality, and  his physical appearance.
House II represents how well a person earns his/her money and in short, greed on materialistic goods.
House III represents communication. Basically, how well you communicate with others and how you interact with them.
House IV represents emotions, how well he/she interacts with his/her family.
House V represents creativity and a person's hobby.
House VI represents how a person reacts to his daily life events, works, and pets.
House VII represents how a person reacts to other people, this house also plays a role in marriage and partnership.
House VIII represents how deep a person's secret, and relationship with the unknown (death, sex, etc).
House IX represents how religion, laws, and other philosophical stuffs affect ones life.
House X represents ambitions, achievements, and public reputations.
House XI represents the characteristics of what his friends are like, as we all know, people who are alike will gather together rather than those unalike.
House XII represents the person's institutions, secrets, and confinement.
And that's for today, I know it might not be much, but I'm just giving out simple infos, not complicated lectures, so (very sorry) if you're trying to get deeper into it, I suggest you this LINK which could explain more about the Houses.

Learning Horoscope! Part II
Before continuing, so sorry for the absence due to exam which needed much more studies than I had expected. So let's continue, after learning the planets and their meanings. Time to learning the all famous 12 Western horoscope signs (Reminder: Ophiuchus is NOT going to be focused here, although I know it is part of sidereal horoscope). They are;
 The 12 Western horoscope
And (obviously) from what is shown from the picture, each horoscope has a range of dates which will determine what horoscope a person has by pin-pointing their birthdate.
Now, the 12 horoscopes are divided into 4 based on elements;
The 4 Elements

  • Fire
  • Earth
  • Air
  • Water
Of course, there are meanings behind this elements (kinda reminds me of Aang from Avatar), and as a REMINDER, the horoscope cycle always starts from the Aries sign.
So, for the elements, it starts with Fire, Earth, Air, and Water respectively. Conclusively, it can be said that;
Aries is FIRE...
Taurus is EARTH...
Gemini is AIR...
Cancer is WATER...
And then, back to FIRE continuing Cancer, starting with Leo (Fire), Virgo (Earth), Libra (Air), Scorpio (Water), Sagitarius (Fire), Capricorn (Earth), Aquarius (Air), Pisces (Water).
Now what does these element mean..
Fire resembles passion, and need for action. Like the burning fire, those categorized FIRE are known for their passion, optimism, and unconcious courage.
Earth resembles concrete. Like the Earth itself, those categorized EARTH are known to have a down-to-earth personality. They are realistic and reliable.
Air resembles flexibility. Like the wind that could change its direction and magnitude at any time for as long the conditions are supportive, those categorized AIR are mostly flexible in life (easy going), and are able to adapt.
Water resembles the waves of emotion. Like the clear water, those categorized WATER are able to read emotions and sensitive.

Now, I know you might be thinking, "Hey, I'm a Scorpio and I'm not like what you describe", but first, as another reminder, NO HOROSCOPE are THE SAME, and you'll see why...
Next, the 12 horoscope signs are divided into 3 based on MODALITY; Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable.
Modality of Horoscope
Again, starting from Aries;
Aries - Cardinal
Taurus - Fixed
Gemini - Mutable
Cancer - Cardinal
Leo - Fixed
Virgo - Mutable
Libra - Cardinal
Scorpio - Fixed, and so on... until Pisces. Although the picture mostly explains the modality, I'll explain a little...
Cardinal signs are usually self starters (loves to start new projects), and mostly efficacious. However, this "self-starter" personality makes them hard to follow under others orders.
Fixed signs are good at focusing, and are highly determined when they have a specific goal. However, they are usually stubborn about their point of view of a certain subject, but they are able to follow others easily.
Mutable signs are, well, MUTABLE, they are able to "mutate" easily to adapt, and mostly flexible. However, on the downside, they are easily distracted (unlike Cardinal and Fixed signs, but of course, everyone has their own flaws).

Lastly, the 12 horoscope signs are divided into 2 groups based on duality.
There's light, there'll be dark
There's day, there'll be night
There's pro, there'll be con
There's yin, there'll be yang
Like yin and yang, the horoscopes are divided based on 2 dualities; active (Assertive) and passive
Duality

Again, from Aries;
Aries - Active (A)
Taurus - Passive (P)
Gemini - A
Cancer - P
And so on... until Pisces.
Now, Active signs have an outgoing personality, their energy is focused outwardly; on the downside, they're impulsive at times.
Passive signs have a reserved personality, tend to be shy, and focuses energy inwardly, prefer to observe at times. Not to mention, these signs have magnetic personalities.

So, in conclusion (sorry to conclude everything in a picture, I'm starting to find writings a bit boring when explaining these stuffs)
Conclusion for today
And for notes;
+ sign means assertive
- sign means passive
Don't worry passive signs, you are not NEGATIVE.
Anyways, as you can see neither one of the signs have precise similarity. There's always a difference in every sign. Now, I'll continue this next week, for now, try understanding some of the signs. I'm sorry but I forgot the link to where I found the elements, modality, and duality stuffs. Thanks for reading :D
Learning Horoscope! Part I
We all know about the horoscope thing, in where we just determine what our sign is. However, sometimes some of the characteristics don't match yourselves (I've been there before). Surprisingly, if you go deeper into horoscope, there's more than just range of 'birth dates'. There are decans(got info from a friend), cusps, planetary signs, and charts( I'm not going into too much details on charts, 'cause I myself haven't studied on those)
First off, there are planetary signs in horoscope, and yes, the solar system is related, especially the sun.
Planetary signs
Sun, the center of the solar system, giving light to planets orbiting it. The sun, in horoscope, shows your true nature, uniqueness, and ego.
Moon determines a person's mood and emotions
Mercury governs in how well we use our mind, such as; language, communication, etc.
Venus plays a role in love life and beauty.
Mars determines the energy, aggressiveness, and impulsiveness.
Jupiter, best known as planet of luck, determines our luck, opportunity in life, and also optimism.
Saturn will determine how much we learn in life by giving obstacles for us to pass through, increasing our endurance and patience.
Uranus which means change. It deals with changes and rebel characteristics.
Neptune deals with illusion, imagination, deception, spiritual and pyschic forces.
Pluto, in horoscope which means depth, deals with unconsciousness, birth, death, and secrets.

For starters, planets might be quite confusing, but they're going to be used in charts and determining characteristics. Besides, there are more than just planets, extra ones include asteroids and inclusion of Rising Sign (Ascendant), Midheavens, etc.
I'm going to continue this weekly, but for the first two, I might be kind of busy due to exams. Thanks for reading, if you want to speed things up, you could click on the site below and learn a bit more, because what I'm sharing is just the simple ones.
