Yes, my first post on philosophy. It might be to deep for me, but I'll still give it a try. A brief opening, what is philosophy? It's the study of fundamental problems, relating to existence, language, mind, and reality. Now... first of the trendiest question, what happens when we die? Where do we go? Heaven? Hell? Do they even really exist?
Now, one problem when trying to understand philosophy is that it might take away a person's trust on religion, so this won't be something I get too deep in, since I still believe in God and Buddha. Back to the main topic... Is there an afterlife? This question still haunts philosophers till now. If we die, where do we go? Do we become ghosts?
One of the main problem why this question remains unanswered is because when people die, we can't keep track of where their 'soul' goes. But then again, do souls even exist? Because scientifically speaking, people die due to failure of system to support the whole body, and we all know that all systems rely on one another, like; circulatory system requires digestive system to transport nutrients, and respiratory system to transport gases, and vise versa. Now, speaking this way, it'll probably make you think, "Are we just a simple body with definitive minds of our own?" Since the mind is what makes people unique, but of course, the mind is the most complex thing humans will ever get to understand, and that's the reason why psychology is studied. Now, back again, after all that, do souls really exist? If so, how come we can't feel it's existence? Another thing is, when we die, it is said, religiously, that our souls will be taken to judgement, and we are either going to heaven or hell. IF, that was true, then how come there are ghosts in the human world? If they're lost souls, that proves that in order to go for judgement, there's a path to go there.
But this leads back to the main problem, we can't keep track of souls.
Not to mention, ghosts might be or not be real, since not everyone can sense them. This means that their existence is still a big problem, and another problem is contacting them, since (like human) some of them are kind, some aren't, some might wanna reveal themselves, some don't, they're a huge problem to finish.
If based on some religion like Buddhism, we are told that there are different spaces of world. While in Christian, it's basically said that there are two destination - Heaven and Hell. Although proving their existence is hard to show and explain, I still believe there's a place for souls to go, but, of course, I can't blindly believe anything. As Buddha said: "See is to believe, do not simply believe what others said or heard, not even from me"
This shows that Buddha he himself doesn't want us, human, to believe blindly even if what he said was true. Existence of ghosts, afterlife, and souls might be true, but still unproven yet. Hence, science is still trying to prove this, and who knows in the future we might be able to talk with ghosts... (I'm just saying)
